One of my favorite Super bowl commercials from years past is the Pepsi commercial with Justin Timberlake, as well as the Pepsi Max commercial with the "What Is Love?" song playing.
From this year I really liked the careerbuilder.com one about "If you hate your job, and feel like punching small animals, maybe it’s time for a new one..."
The target audience was similar in all three commercials; they were basically advertising to the general population with maybe more of a teen influence on the Justin Timberlake one and more toward adults with the careerbuilder.com one.

In all of these, humor was used to get their point across as well as the celebrity factor in the Justin Timberlake commercial.
There weren’t too many effects used in any of these commercials though they did use a sort of repetitive editing effect in the careerbuilder.com ad, which i think was entirely effective.
The main message of the Justin Timberlake commercial was that if you drink Pepsi you can win Justin Timberlake songs. The slogan for the second Pepsi advertisement with the "What Is Love?" song was "WAKE UP PEOPLE!" encouraging people to drink Pepsi Max for the added ginseng and caffeine to wake them up...the song deffinitely added to the commercials overall effect. In the Careerbuilder.com commercial they repeated several times, "If you hate you job...maybe it’s time for a new one." They are trying to encourage people to use the careerbuilder.com website to find a new job that they might actually enjoy.

I think that all of these commercials had effective messages and were clearly very memorable.
